The world’s largest and most successful masonry challenge, the SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500®, is back for its 22nd season. Starting in August and ending in early November, North America’s top masons will grab their masonry levels and trowels to compete for a chance to be named, “The World’s Best Bricklayer!” This unique and grueling competition started in 2003 and ever since has continually captured the hearts and attention of people from all over the globe.

Don’t miss your chance to see this world-famous competition up close! The SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500 Regional Series consists of 23 regional qualifying competitions held across North America. This 60-minute bricklaying battle is designed to test the speed, skill, and stamina of each participant by challenging them to build the highest and best 26-foot-long brick wall with as few craftsmanship errors as possible.

Working with their trusted mason tender, the winning bricklayer is determined by a panel of experienced judges who, based on any of the 12 categories of workmanship criteria, deduct bricks laid in error from the total number of units laid to build the wall. The mason with the highest brick count at the end of the judging session earns a roster spot at the 2024 World Championship taking place January 24th in Las Vegas during the World of Concrete trade show. The stakes are high at the World Championship season finale with prizes and cash totaling more than $125,000 including a Kubota RTV-X1140 Utility Vehicle, an Essick Pro12 Mortar Mixer, and other great prizes from Stabila, Marshalltown, STIHL, Hilti, Quikrete and Razor-Back Tools.

With workforce development being the primary battle cry today for the skilled trades, the SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500 has become a tool utilized to create awareness and interest in the rewards and opportunities possible in the masonry industry to recruit the next generation of skilled masons. Now with the addition of the JR. BRICKLAYER 500 contests taking place at numerous SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500 Regional Series events, masonry high school students and apprentices can get in on the bricklaying action and shine on masonry’s biggest stage!
