The 2019 SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500® Virginia Regional Series is back! Glen-Gery Brick Center in Manassas, VA is once again hosting the regional series event, one of 24 being held across North America. The qualifying national competitors will battle for a chance to win over $125,000 in cash and prizes, including a Ford F250 XLT 4X4 truck and John Deere Gator.
Last year’s regional event drew eight teams of highly skilled bricklayers. Their mission was to build a wall as big as they can in one hour. The mason with who lays the most brick with the least mistakes wins. Last year, James Currier and Alexis Aquino celebrated victory with a brick count of 460. For their efforts, they receive $800, a trip to Las Vegas and the title “Virginia’s Best Bricklayer.”
SPEC MIX TOP CRAFTSMAN which goes to the team with the “most sellable wall,” went to mason Bonilla Hernendez and mason tender Samual Cuchilla of Telligent in Rockville, MD. The masonry team also took 3rd place with a brick count of 400.
2nd place went to mason Marlon Rodriguez and his mason tender Edwin Velasquez of Alban Masonry in Washington, DC with a brick count of 458, nearly missing the winning mark by two bricks.
