For David Kelly, masonry is a family trade as his grandfather, and father were also masons, which lead to him and his brother starting Kelly Masonry about 30 years ago. David believes that masonry will always be around, he says that this an industry that will see continued growth as there are less masons in the field with high demand for masonry work. For future masons, Kelly would like to say to them, “Quality comes before quantity, always strive to do your best work, and be the best at what you do. You don’t want to have to worry about keeping a job in the masonry field. Masonry is not only a work of art that stands the test of time but is also a gratification to look back on and an honest living”
Still true to his belief in quality, Kelly was not expecting to win the North Carolina regional since two other teams had a larger brick count, but he was able to pull through with having less deductions than them. David is looking forward to giving his best shot in Vegas and is hoping to place, at the very least, in the top 4. Most of all, he is looking forward to sharing this experience with his family and enjoying being able to be there with them.
