Emilio Dibra wins the 2020 SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500 Ohio Regional
Cleveland, OH – The best masons in Ohio came together to test their skill, speed and stamina by battling to see who could build the biggest and best 26-foot-long brick wall in one hour. The competition was one of several SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500® Regional Series competitions to be held across North America in 2020. The winner of the each regional qualifies to compete in 2021 World Championship at the World of Concrete expo in Las Vegas.
10 teams of masons and tenders lined the arena at St. Mary’s Cement Terminal in Cleveland, OH ready to prove they’re the best craftsmen in the region. Mason Emilio Dibra and mason tender Charlie Cheatham of United Masonry in Willoughby, OH took home top honors with an adjusted brick count of 624. The masonry team also won the coveted SPEC MIX TOP CRAFTSMAN award, which goes to the mason who built the best wall. In total, Dibra and Cheatham won a free trip to Las Vegas for the World Championship, $1750 in cash ($950 for first place, $800 for TOP CRAFTSMAN), a $200 gift card from Ford Trucks, a Marshalltown tool bag, Stabila Level and the title, “Ohio’s Best Bricklayer.”
