AIA Continuing EducationYou may be surprised to know that not all mortar is created equally. So what does that mean to you? Mortar quality affects building design and integrity. If you have ever designed a building with masonry components, then you need to take the AIA/CES certified course "Factory Preblended Mortar for Masonry Construction." Find out what even many tradesmen don't know. In "Factory Preblended Mortar for Masonry Construction," you'll learn:
Color matchingWhen working with colored mortar, uniform color requires consistent material proportioning. With SPEC MIX, this isn't a problem. SPEC MIX® colored mortar consists of preblended Portland cement or mortar cement, lime and sand to produce uniformity from batch to batch. No field measuring is required. The pigments are specially blended to ensure maximum color effect and proper dispersion throughout the batch. Containing only finely milled synthetic iron oxides, the strongest and most stable colors available, SPEC MIX® colors are lime-proof, sunfast and inert. The product is environmentally safe and, in every application, SPEC MIX® meets or exceeds the criteria of ASTM C 270. SPEC MIX® preblended colors cover the full range of the color spectrum: brown, buff, tan, black, yellow, orange, red and white. To achieve just the right masonry look, custom colors are available upon request. Your special color is perfectly matched every time, allowing complete control of your projects. All SPEC MIX® colors are available in appropriate strengths and proper mix designs. Our creative production and shipping processes guarantee product to your site in a timely fashion to keep your crews working. With more than 50 highly trained sales representatives operating out of over 40 plants around the country, the SPEC MIX® program offers contractors the competitive advantage of locally produced materials with national quality control. ProductsMASONRY PRODUCTSThe integrity of any masonry project is contingent on the mortar specified, which is the most integral component of the wall. For that reason, our factory preblended masonry mortars are certified to meet or exceed ASTM, UBC, IBC, or ACI standards. SPEC MIX® mortars satisfy the critical plastic and hardened properties of quality mortar. SPEC MIX® mortars provide uniform consistency from batch to batch, allowing us the ability to duplicate the cement to aggregate ratio every time. This guarantees mortar with total quality assurance and optimal workability, which is crucial to a mason's performance. Every 3,000-pound bulk bag of SPEC MIX® mortar has a corresponding computer batch-ticket to confirm the mix meets the project specification. As part of the SPEC MIX® Quality Assurance Program, each plant submits material samples to independent testing labs verifying compliance to the all-applicable standards. Our detailed submittal package contains this information for your approval.
