Products
For all its traditional beauty, masonry is as much a science as an art. The integrity of masonry is contingent on the mortar specified, the most integral component of any masonry assemblage. SPEC MIX® eliminates the inconsistencies associated with some field proportioned mortars, especially in colored mortars. The computer-batching process ensures that materials are consistent from bag to bag, so you know the color will be the same from start to finish. If a project requires specific performance requirements, customized mixes can be formulated by our Engineering Services Center.
PCL SAND (TYPE M, S, N)
SPEC MIX® PCL Sand mortar is a dry preblended mortar mix containing Portland cement, hydrated lime and dried masonry sand formulated for superior bond, water retention and board life. Meets ASTM C 270 requirements.
PCL SAND COLOR
SPEC MIX® PCL Sand Color is a dry preblended mortar mix containing Portland cement, hydrated lime, dried masonry sand and color pigment formulated for superior bond, workability and board life. Meets ASTM C 270 requirements.
CORE FILL GROUT
SPEC MIX® Core Fill Grout is a dry, preblended mix containing cementitious materials and dried aggregates formulated for superior flow to fill masonry voids while meeting ASTM C 476 requirements for reinforced masonry construction.
CORE FILL - FINE GROUT
SPEC MIX® Fine Grout is a dry, preblended mix containing cementitious materials and fine aggregate and is designed to fill masonry voids two inches or less. Fine Grout is formulated for superior flow and cohesiveness while meeting ASTM C 476 requirements for reinforced masonry construction.
CORE FILL - COARSE GROUT
SPEC MIX® Coarse Grout is a dry, preblended mix containing cementitious materials and coarse aggregate designed to fill masonry voids greater than two inches. Coarse Grout is formulated for superior flow and cohesiveness while meeting ASTM C 476 requirments for reinforced masonry construction.
DRY PACK
SPEC MIX® Dry Pack is a dry, preblended setting mortar that contains cement and aggregates designed for placing stone, concrete pavers, granite, marble and other solid units on horizontal surfaces. When mixed to the desired consistency, Dry Pack provides good working times and high strengths to meet project requirements.
TUCKPOINT MORTAR
SPEC MIX® Tuckpoint Mortar is a specialized blend of cementitious materials and aggregates specifically formulated for superior bond and tooling characteristics when applied in a tuckpointing application while meeting ASTM C 270 requirements for tuckpointing mortar. Tuckpoint Mortar is available in any color through a custom color match and can be custom blended with performance admixtures such as integral water repellents, bond enhancers and air entraining to meet any project specification.
MC SAND (TYPE M, S, N)
SPEC MIX® MC Mortar is a dry, preblended mortar mix containing either masonry cement or mortar cement and dried masonry sand formulated for superior bond and workability while meeting ASTM C 270 requirements.
MC SAND COLOR (TYPE M, S, N)
SPEC MIX® MC Mortar is a dry, preblended mortar mix containing either masonry cement or mortar cement, dried masonry sand and pigment formulated for superior bond and workability while meeting ASTM C 270 requirements.
STONE VENEER MORTAR
SPEC MIX® Stone Veneer Mortar is a blend of dry cementitious materials and masonry sand specifically designed to provide superior bond for precast, lightweight masonry veneer units to base surfaces.
STONE VENEER SCRATCH AND BASE
SPEC MIX® Stone Veneer Scratch and Base mortar is a blend of dry cementitious materials and masonry sand specifically designed for superior bond and durability. Used as a base coat for applications over wood and lath, concrete or masonry substrates, Scratch and Base is used to attach precast, lightweight masonry units. SPEC MIX® Stone Veneer Joint Grout is used to fill the voids between the units.
STONE VENEER JOINT GROUT
SPEC MIX® Stone Veneer Joint Grout is a blend of dry cementitious materials and masonry sand specifically designed to fill the joints between various precast, lightweight masonry veneer systems.
Packaging and Delivery
SPEC MIX, Inc., takes a technological approach to formulating mortar mix designs, which have been pretested to meet industry standards. The SPEC MIX® masonry line is designed to meet the guidelines of ASTM C 270 for application anywhere in the country. SPEC MIX® manufacturing facilities follow a strict quality control/assurance program complete with national mixture approval, material certification, production process control and testing. Each ingredient in a mixture is individually weighed to an accuracy of less than ½ of 1 percent of design. Each SPEC MIX® masonry product is packaged in either80 lb (36 kg) or 94 lb (42 kg) bags or 3,000 lb. (1,362) bulk bags.
The SPEC MIX® system offers the contractor multiple material delivery options for projects through the use of its patented silo delivery systems. Silo configurations include the one-bulk-bag Load N Go, the five-bulk-bag G7000, the Ten Bagger and the 13-bulk-bag Super Silo. Additionally, SPEC MIX® is proud to announce the addition of the material auger, which attaches to any of our SPEC MIX® silo systems to allow easy mechanical discharge into a mixer. MORE >>
Engineering Services
SPEC MIX, Inc., engineers and scientists can provide full-service project consultation from start to finish. The SPEC MIX® Engineering Services team is proficient at troubleshooting and providing quick response to our customers' project concerns and needs.
Our fully equipped laboratory has the capacity for forensic concrete and mortar analysis, including petrographic, chemical, and x-ray diffraction analyses, as well as physical testing of concrete, aggregate and mortar. These capabilities ensure that the products going into SPEC MIX® bags meet our quality standards.
