You may be surprised to learn that not all mortar is created equally. So what does this mean to you? Mortar quality affects building design and integrity. SPEX MIX has teamed with American Institute of Architecture (AIA) to provide a comprehensive accredited class on preblended mortar titled “Factory Preblended Mortar for Masonry Construction.” Find out what even many tradesmen don’t know about mortar.
The one hour long class covers the science of preblended mortar and covers several mortar quality control subjects in depth such as sand bulking, mix ratios and why efflorescence occurs. You will also learn:
- What is the role of mortar in masonry construction?
- How mortar is made
- How inconsistencies in mortar can affect your building project
- How to specify consistent mortar every time.
The class provides 1 Learning Unit credit and qualifies for a Health, Safety and Welfare (HSW) credit under the AIA CES program. A self-contained ten question test module is offered at the end of the digital class. You must have an 80% pass requirement for the AIA CES credit.
The SPEC MIX/ AIA CES Factory Preblended Mortar for Masonry Construction class is available to be taken in three different learning formats. The classes are offered at:
